Specialist Services

I provide specialist anaesthetic, peri-operative, and related medical services for patients who value careful assessment, clear communication, and safe, personalised care. My work focuses particularly on patients with more complex medical needs, including obesity, sleep-disordered breathing, cardiac conditions, and those requiring higher-risk anaesthesia or procedural support.

Atrial Fibrillation Ablation

Atrial fibrillation is now easily treated by Pulse Field Ablation delivered under a controlled general anaesthetic. I have made training videos and lectured across Europe on best practice for delivering both general anaesthesia and the peri-procedural transoesophageal echo guidance for precise care. I can guide the cardiologist to place the devices inside the left heart veins without the need for any Xray at all. This unique technique has been perfected in combination with the cardiologists at the OneWelbeck Hospital in London where I nominally lead the Heart Health Anaesthetic group, guiding policy and inhouse guidance.

Book Anaesthetic Cover

With more than 25 years of experience in anaesthesia across a wide range of specialties, I increasingly focus on patients who are medically complex or at higher peri-operative risk. My aim is to provide safe, thoughtful anaesthetic and peri-operative care tailored to the individual patient and procedure.

This work includes care across a broad range of interventions, from sedation for endoscopy through to major surgery, cardiac procedures, and cardiac intensive care. If you have had previous problems with anaesthesia, recovery, sickness, pain control, or anxiety around procedures, I can assess these concerns in clinic and help plan safer and more comfortable care.

Peri-Operative Reviews

Many patients want a clearer understanding of procedural risk, how that risk can be reduced, and how their wider health may affect surgery or anaesthesia. A peri-operative review can help patients prepare more effectively, particularly before elective procedures.

I offer outpatient peri-operative assessment and advisory consultations for patients seeking a more detailed review before surgery or intervention. This may include risk assessment, optimisation advice, prehabilitation planning, enhanced recovery strategies, and practical recommendations for patients being treated either by me or by another anaesthetist or surgical team.

Urgent Care or A&E services

Urgent care is becoming an increasingly important part of independent healthcare. I am a co-creator and manager of a busy private urgent care service at Cromwell Hospital in West London, where adult patients can access rapid assessment by a consultant in emergency medicine together with prompt blood tests and imaging when required.

The service operates from 8am to 8pm, seven days a week, and patients are advised to call ahead before attending. If you would like this section to drive enquiries, it would work well with a direct button linking to the urgent care service website.

Extended Care or HDU Care

With over 2 decades of critical experience I am now excited to be part of a team leading the Extended Care Unit (ECU) at King Edward the seventh  (KE7) in London. This consultant led innovation brings safer, better, more patient focussed care to major procedures at this world leading hospital.

Weight Loss Service

With more than 20 years of experience in weight management, including work in the NHS and as a director of the London Weight Clinic, I offer medically led support for patients who want to lose weight before surgery, after surgery, or for their general health and wellbeing.

Care is tailored to the individual and may include medication, nutritional support, psychological input, and multidisciplinary guidance where appropriate.

My aim is to provide safe, personalised treatment with properly managed prescribing and reliable support delivered in a way that is practical for each patient. This can include coordination with dietitians, psychologists, nutrition professionals, and home-delivered medication where appropriate within 24 hours.

Sleep Apnoea & Snoring

Sleep apnoea and other sleep-related breathing disorders are common in patients with obesity, cardiovascular disease, and those preparing for surgery. Because of my work in obesity anaesthesia and my interest in pulmonary hypertension and peri-operative risk, I have developed particular expertise in assessing and managing these conditions.

I offer diagnostic assessment and treatment for suitable patients. Treatment options may include APAP, CPAP, BiPAP, and other device-based therapies, together with practical support on mask fit, comfort, maintenance, and ongoing use.

For some weight loss and bariatric patients, short-term treatment may be all that is needed while weight is being reduced and symptoms improve. For patients with cardiac conditions, atrial fibrillation, or more established sleep-disordered breathing, longer-term treatment is often appropriate.
