John set the society up to promote better care for patients with obesity and the comorbidities associated with obesity. 

Globally neglected by training curricula and colleges, the SOBA society teaches better care and sets our standards of care. 

He is a recent chairman leading the committee and supporting colleagues across the globe. He now sits on the SOBA committee in an honorary role advising and supporting the current elected council.
